Spring 2010 Rescued Animals need your help!

Organized by Dont Bully My Breed

Please help us!
We're not just horsin' around...it's time for our Spring Bullytin!
Spring has sprung and we at Dont Bully My Breed have been very busy! We are in very urgent need of donations, and YOUR help is needed now more than ever!

The humane society asked us for help this past winter in taking in a third horse to our menagerie of "misfits". Her name is Pixie and she has something called moon blindness, due to a neglectful owner not having the funds to properly care for her. She has THE sweetest temperament and is so brave adjusting to her new environment (even though her "sister" ponies have not been the most welcoming). Pixie has some potential expensive surgery coming up due to pressure behind her eyes, and if that surgery fails, she will have to have them completely removed. We're hoping this isn't the case and that her first surgery will be successful! But before she has this surgery, first we had to take care of her teeth. We had the most amazing equine dentists come out and, since our two other sanctuary ponies are elderly, decided to have them all taken care of at once, hence a huge bill that we SO need your help with!

We also seem to have had an epidemic of declawed cats being dumped, both four and two paw declawed. Riley was taken to our vet to be euthanized due to "allergies". Sophie was dumped by college students who adopted her on a whim and decided they no longer wanted her. Minx was left behind to fend for herself after her owners got evicted. All three kitties are in need of complete vetting and new homes! Please spread the word so we can help them get adopted quickly!

Additionally, another local vet clinic was in urgent need of help with a handsome bi-eyed aussie/rottie/bully mix named Woody, who would have been euthanized due to the hospital filling up with Spring Break boarders. Woody is very dog friendly, has lots of energy, and loooves to have his belly rubbed. He has a VERY temporary place to stay and is in urgent need of rescue, foster, or adoption!

Also, now that it is Spring time, flea, tick and mosquito season is starting to come into full effect. We desperately need donations of Frontline and Heartgard, or monetary donations to purchase them ourselves.

We also want to take a moment to mention Elgin, IL. Breed-specific legislation (BSL) was nearly enacted, but due to the efforts of a handful of local and national animal welfare groups, was voted down. Thank you to the Elgin councilmen who voted it down, and great job to all of you who called and emailed asking to stop the restrictions!

All of these animals need your help so spread the word to friends, family, and coworkers, that we are in urgent need for donations to help fund their care.
We are hoping that each of you can help by donating just $10 or $20 (or more)! We have a Chip In fund set up, http://thegreenvillethree.chipin.com/spring-2010-rescued-animals-need-your-help, or please email us at dontbullymybreed@aol.com for address to send a check.

We try to only send out pleas for donations infrequently and only when situations are urgent so please consider skipping a fast food meal or a few beers on a Friday night and making a donation to help these guys out! Thank you!!!
